About Kevin
Kevin McElroy has been repairing and restoring violins for most of his adult life. He worked on fretted instruments for many years and was primarily self taught. He worked for a time doing repairs on fretted instruments on his own also working for Bourgeois Guitar in Topsham, Maine.
He studied violin restoration at The University of New Hampshire summer luthiers program for several years following his primary instructor Hans Nebel to North Adams State College in Massachusetts. Kevin worked for the well known maker Jonathan Cooper doing repairs, restoration and new making.
Kevin opened his own business, Frost Gully Violins in 1994. The shop provided rental and student level violins as well as supplying professional quality instruments and services to Southern Maine and Northern New England. He sold the student division of Frost Gully Violins in 2015.
Today Kevin concentrates on restoration and repairs on top quality and professional level instruments. He also has an inventory of fine violins and bows for the discerning musicians.
